History

In 2001, a group of Chicago jurists began meeting informally once a month over lunch to discuss the law, and matters of Jewish religious and cultural history. Together they shared their experiences and knowledge, and in due course began inviting others, more knowledgeable, such as Rabbi Hertz, to join in and help enrich the discussion. As attendance grew it soon became obvious that establishing a formal group would best serve all who wanted to participate. Thus the Jewish Judges Association of Illinois was created. The association exists for the fellowship, knowledge and understanding that is gained by having a forum for the continued discussions enjoyed by its members.

On a Tuesday each month the association schedules discussion and lectures during the noon hour.

During the year, trips are arranged for members to participate in tours and travel with a bent towards Jewish history and culture.

Each year at an Award Dinner, the "Seymour Simon Justice Award" and "Liftime Achievement Award" are
presented to a worthy recipients.
